Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris, on Monday, 10 November, 2025, said that there is no community in the state under the occupation of armed bandits, reports thegazellenews.com

He made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi while declaring open security summit organised by Arewa Media Practitioners’ Forum.

Idris, maintained that insurgents now attack and retreat to neighboring states like Zamfara “our security forces have been making it impossible for them to take control of any town, village or local government in Kebbi state”

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his financial and moral support in the fight against insurgency and banditry across the country.

Earlier, in his key note address, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminent Saad Abubakar III described insurgency as a monster that every region in Nigeria must unite to eradicate it, “though some chose to claimed Christian genocide in the North but didn’t know that bandits know no tribe or religion they kill everyone”.

Also speaking at the summit, the former Chief of Army Staff, General Abdurahman Danbazau attributed the escalation of insecurity to poverty, poor education and absence of affordable healthcare.

He noted that the northern leaders must rise to the occasion beyond security summit they should put in practice solutions that would be proffered during the summit to achieve the desired purpose.

Danbazau chided the US for branding Nigeria ‘Country of Particular Concern’.

“Nigeria is not a country of particular concern but of particular interest by western leaders because the north embodies huge mineral deposits they are eyeing,” he said.
