Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has launched a statewide free medical outreach targeting more than 5,000 residents across the state, in a renewed push to expand access to quality healthcare services.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Bauchi State Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, is being implemented in collaboration with the African Medical Centre of Excellence and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
The programme offers free specialist consultations, diagnostic screenings, cardiac evaluations, treatment, and referral services.
Flagging off the outreach at the ATBUTH premises on Saturday, 14 February, 2026, Governor Mohammed said the intervention underscores his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring inclusive access to medical services, particularly for vulnerable and underserved populations.
He commended the African Medical Centre of Excellence for extending specialised services to the state, expressing optimism that the partnership would help curb preventable illnesses and reduce avoidable deaths, especially in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
The Governor further directed the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to integrate the outreach into the state’s healthcare framework to guarantee sustainability.
Leader of the medical team, Brian Deaver, stressed the importance of early disease detection in improving survival outcomes, while the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, revealed that a 40-member medical team is working alongside local health professionals, with critical cases already referred for advanced care.
