Reports have claimed that Chelsea have added Burnley manager Vincent Kompany to their list of candidates to become their next permanent boss.

According to The Times, the former Manchester City defender is part of a seven-man shortlist to take over the role from next season.

For the majority of supporters, there is a real desire to hire the new manager as soon as possible in order to try and move on from what has been a shambles of a season.

Unfortunately for the Blues, this situation has not really changed since the hiring of Frank Lampard on a temporary basis.

Despite the Englishman hinting he would like the job permanently, three losses in as many games since taking over has done little to fight his corner.

This weekend just gone was a real low for Chelsea, as they were outclassed completely by Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Kompany considered for Chelsea job

Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have frequently been touted as the favourites for the role, with both reportedly entering talks with the club regarding taking over.

However, numerous other candidates have been mentioned as potential targets, and now Kompany’s name has joined that list.

The Belgian has had an extremely successful season in the Championship, already securing automatic promotion to the top flight for next season.

He has enjoyed plenty of success with one Chelsea player already this season. Loanee Ian Maatsen has had a stellar campaign at Turf Moor this season.

The Dutchman is already strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge when he returns this summer, with Burnley obviously interested in making his time permanent.

As for Kompany, you would think the Blues would eventually decide on a more experienced candidate at the top level to lead their project into next season.
