Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR has affirmed his respect for the constitutional and political right of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to endorse an aspirant of his choice, following the Governor’s recent endorsement of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

However, the governorship aspirant noted that the leadership of the party is yet to formally communicate a change of its position that the candidates of the party for 2027 general elections will be chosen through direct primaries.

“As it stands, the expectation remains that a direct primary will determine the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

“In this context, Dr. Adediran remains firmly in the race and continues his engagement with party members, stakeholders, and the grassroots across Lagos State in anticipation of the direct primaries.

“We also wish to clarify that Dr. Adediran’s position does not, in any way, amount to opposition to respected party leaders who have publicly declared their support for Dr. Hamzat. He accords them due respect and recognizes their right to freely express their political preferences. This diversity of opinion is a hallmark of a healthy democratic system.

“At this critical juncture, our collective responsibility is to preserve party unity, strengthen internal democracy, and ensure that our processes command the confidence of members and the electorate.

“Accordingly, Dr. Adediran will continue his statewide mobilization efforts, engaging party faithful, stakeholders and leaders in the spirit of camaraderie, respect, and shared commitment to party unity, pending any other official directive from the party leadership.

He remains steadfast in his commitment to progressive leadership, unity, and dedicated service to the people of Lagos State,” a statement by his spokesman, Gbenga Ogunleye stated on Monday, 28 April, 2026.
