The newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester (NCGM), Otunba Dele Bashiru-Kaka, has announced an ambitious institutional shift positioning diaspora-led development alongside global multilateral frameworks.
Succeeding Otunba Abiola Kumoye, Bashiru-Kaka’s administration is rolling out a comprehensive reform agenda to drive continental advancement.
As part of this forward-looking vision, the new Chairman promises to align with Nigeria-Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other development agencies to establish operational routes where professionals in Manchester can actively channel investments, technological innovations, and human capital into critical development programs.
“Our administration will be anchored on a united leadership rooted in quality, inclusivity, and a shared unity of purpose,” Bashiru-Kaka declared, emphasizing that strict constitutional governance and absolute transparency will anchor these international institutional relationships.
The new NCGM development blueprint focuses on four core development areas:
GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS: Executing the core strategy where the new chairman plans a revitalized alignment with needcom, SDG and other development agency to implement sustainable demographic and structural projects.
YOUTH AND TALENT CIRCULATION: Transforming traditional brain drain into “brain circulation” by developing educational, career, and mentorship pipelines for the next generation.(SDGs 4&8)
STRUCTURED LOCAL WELFARE: Upgrading the community’s internal safety nets to deliver respectful, dedicated care systems for elderly diaspora residents.
SDG3 INSTITUTIONAL STEWARDSHIP: Introducing open financial frameworks, audited performance metrics, and direct community-feedback loops to ensure organizational accountability.(SDGs 16)
